Mensch und Maschine Software SE began in 1984, when computer scientist Adi Drotleff founded the business. Selling Autodesk software shaped its early years. Buying OPEN MIND and DATAflor in 2002 helped it build a larger business around software of its own. Today, the group is based in Wessling, near Munich, and serves manufacturers, engineers and the construction industry.

Its software connects a design with the work needed to build it. OPEN MIND’s hyperMILL plans how machine tools cut a part; SOFiSTiK calculates how structures respond to loads; DATAflor supports landscaping businesses. The Digitization division installs and adapts engineering software, trains users and connects their systems. A good drawing is the start of the job, rather than the finished product.
