A reseller may earn only part of a software sale plus service fees; an owner of specialised software has different economics. Recent progress

AI can help engineers explore more designs between expensive full simulations. Siemens announced Simcenter PhysicsAI on 27 May 2026. The software learns from computational-fluid-dynamics results and uses them to predict how other shapes will perform. These are faster approximations trained on simulation data. Their usefulness depends on validation and on whether a new design stays within what the model can handle.

In July 2026, NVIDIA released Omniverse libraries for sensor simulation, accelerated physics and checking whether 3D assets are ready for simulation. That can make these capabilities easier to integrate into existing engineering tools. It does not remove the need for sound input data and physical tests. A model can calculate confidently from the wrong assumptions.
