SUSS cuts 2026 guidance as production moves to Taiwan
The semiconductor-equipment maker is consolidating production while component shortages and the move shift revenue into 2027, cutting this year’s sales and margin outlook.
SUSS makes equipment used in semiconductor manufacturing and advanced packaging. It plans to concentrate mask-aligner production in Zhubei, Taiwan, while moving module manufacturing to Sternenfels, Germany. Production in Garching will stop, affecting about 70 employees. The company expects one-off costs of €6.2m, with about €4.5m booked in 2026.
The move is meant to simplify the production network as demand grows, but it creates a near-term execution cost. SUSS says shortages of key components and the production transfer will push some revenue into 2027. It now expects 2026 sales of €405m to €425m, down from €425m to €485m, and an EBIT margin of 5% to 7%, down from 8% to 10%.
The gross-margin forecast remains 35% to 37%. That makes the lower EBIT outlook notable: SUSS is not signalling a comparable deterioration in product economics, but it is absorbing disruption and restructuring costs below gross profit. A high order intake and record order book provide demand visibility, although orders do not remove the risk of delayed production or customer acceptance.
The full third-quarter statement is due on 5 November. Investors should look for the size of the revenue shifted into 2027, the schedule for the Taiwan ramp and whether further transition costs are likely. The consolidation may improve efficiency once complete, but the revised guidance shows that the benefit comes after a measurable execution setback.
