The investment case
More data moving through optical connections could increase demand for the lasers and other components made with Riber equipment. The opportunity depends on customers investing in manufacturing capacity, because stronger demand for chips does not automatically become a machine order.
Evidence of progress
H1 2026 revenue rose to €12.7m and operating profit returned to a small positive result. Services and accessories grew strongly, while the €26.8m order book was below the previous year. Hence the recovery was not equally strong across the business.
What drives demand
Optical communications, research and specialist semiconductor manufacturing provide several sources of demand. Export approvals remain important: Riber’s expectation of broadly stable 2026 revenue was conditional on obtaining an export licence.
Profit and cash generation
Riber earned €5.2m in 2025, but H1 2026 operating cash flow was negative at €3.9m. June cash was €5.2m against €6.8m of borrowings and leases. Equipment deliveries and customer payments can therefore make individual periods uneven.
What the valuation assumes
The share price needs to be considered alongside profits across several reporting periods, the timing of orders and the funding needed for new products. A large chipmaking market alone says little about what Riber can earn.
What would weaken the case
- Export restrictions or delayed approvals can postpone orders and deliveries.
- A small number of equipment projects can cause large swings in revenue and cash flow.
- New platforms require development spending before sustained customer demand is established.

Each statement retains its reporting period. Charts use comparable periods and a shared accounting basis; a dash means the figure has not been verified on European Tech Equities.
Calculated: margins = profit ÷ revenue; free cash flow = operating cash flow less capital expenditure; net debt = debt less cash; liabilities = assets less equity. The company-specific notes explain what debt includes. Negative net debt represents net cash. Quarterly flows cover each individual quarter; balance sheet figures are at period end.
Amounts are in EUR million; basic EPS is EUR per share. Cash is the gross balance-sheet cash balance. Debt includes current and non-current financial borrowings, bank overdrafts and leases. EBITDA is not separately reported on the basis used here.
