Exail Technologies SA brings together the ECA and iXblue businesses, combined in 2022. The French group builds maritime robots, navigation equipment and related technologies for customers working at sea. Much of its business serves defence, including systems used to find and deal with underwater mines.

Customers buy individual instruments or larger systems that combine unmanned vessels, underwater vehicles, sensors and control software. Navigation is central: underwater equipment cannot simply rely on a phone-style GPS fix. Exail also sells navigation and photonics products beyond its own robotic systems.
